Someone is Missing

August 20, 2024 by Barry J. Klazura No Comments

We live in what we should view as dangerous times. Why? Because it is easy to name several national leaders who are able and willing to go to war regardless of the cost to them or those they attack. Iran, China, Russia, and North Korea are all ruled by individuals that most people would not want to have over for dinner, or who you would not trust with your children. They are, to put it in the common tongue, nuts, crazy, scary, not in touch with reality, etc.

What really makes the above even scarier is the current leadership of the United States, or should I say the lack of leadership of our nation. We have a President who is mentally challenged, who suffered a putsch from his own party and has no real control over the powerful office he occupies (when he is not at the beach).

The attached article points out that no one outside of the Office of the President, really seems to know who the acting captain of the ship of state is. We face the next few months in a rudderless state; one which is of great danger to us and the world. It is hard to believe, but it would have been better had the Democratic leaders who manufactured and conducted the putsch used the 25th Amendment to remove President Biden and at least installed a figure head president of Kamala Harris. At least world leaders would have seen a warm body in the Oval Office instead of watching the existing President spend so much time at the beach.

Who exactly do world leaders call to discuss strategies, challenges, etc.? Unelected bureaucrats, a Secretary of State whose role is to conduct the policies of the President, the heads of the various Cabinets? If they do reach the current President, who is whispering in his ear? His wife? Former Presidents?

Kamala Harris recently said the democracy can be fragile. Our democracy should not be fragile as we are the world’s oldest republic; we have survived for two-hundred and fifty years, and we have a constitution that has been amended to answer the challenges we face. But democracy can be fragile if we allow a void in the highest office in the land to be filled by faceless entities who inhabit the deep state. The Democrats created a putsch to maintain the chance of power going forward, but they have exposed us and much of the world to the twisted logic of foreign leaders who know no boundaries.

The link below helps to explain the dangers and challenges we as a nation face.

To Save the Constitution

August 14, 2024 by Barry J. Klazura No Comments

We live in a time where so many people have so many solutions to problems which they have managed to create in their own minds. It is a real wonder of our time; “Because I cannot get what I want, we have a major problem. Here is my brilliant idea on how to fix it.”

Most of the time, the individuals who think that way are harmless, but lately we have been seeing major political figures who should know better producing their crazy solutions. “My candidate did not win, let’s do away with the elector college,” or “the Supreme Court (which does overturn previous rulings), ruled in a way I do not agree with, let’s have term limits on the Justices.” And, who wants to do away with the elector college? Politicians who go to court to overturn the will of the voters. Who wants to institute term limits on Supreme Court Justices? Politicians who have lived at the public trough for forty, fifty or more years and who have virtually nothing to show for their years of “public service.”  Indeed, the only thing they have created is a huge public debt.

The attached article discusses the rational for our Constitution protections, how they have served and protected us and how we are in danger if we decide to chip away at those protections. Before we go on a great crusade to redo or “improve” our Federal Constitution, remember the great lives in the film, A Man for All Seasons by Robert Bolt:

“William Roper: “So, now you give the Devil the benefit of law!”

Sir Thomas More: “Yes! What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?”

William Roper: “Yes, I’d cut down every law in England to do that!”

Sir Thomas More: “Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned ’round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man’s laws, not God’s! And if you cut them down, and you’re just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake!”

― Robert Bolt, A Man for All Seasons: A Play in Two Acts

So, do we really want to trust our futures to men or women who have given us only failure and division?  I hope you enjoy the article.

The Non-Disappearing Polar Bears and other Fallacies

August 1, 2024 by Barry J. Klazura No Comments

Bjorn Lomborg does not have to take a back seat to any environmentalist. He has a long and reputable CV of environmental achievements and believes that for a much smaller price tag, we could do more to enhance the lives of millions of people around the world, instead of going after grandiose projects that somehow never seem to quite work out.

In his article, he points out some of the great fallacies which the left environmentalist movement has used to pry money from those who produce and give to those who claim to be following “science.”  Fallacies? Such as?

  • Remember the great disappearing polar bear hoax? Somehow despite the wailing from the left, the polar bear has not disappeared, but rather the population has doubled.
  • How about the destruction of the Great Barrier Reef? Oops, in 2024, the reef is setting yet another record for growth.
  • The sinking islands: This was a special joy for the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres who in 2019 went in his business suit to stand thigh deep in the Pacific behind a headline “Our Sinking Planet”. The only problem is that “Almost all the atoll islands are stable or increasing in size.”

If you read the entire article, you will wonder if the environmentalists are ever correct. “Well, anyone can make a mistake and what is the real harm?”  The harm is that each of these claims and others cost all of us trillions of dollars which could be better spent addressing problems that confront all of us, such as diseases, hunger, etc. Here are two examples of how your money is being wasted in the pursuit of ill-designed and often useless projects:

  1. Electric School Buses: Three years ago, Vice President Harris was so happy to be able to announce a $5 Billion electric school bus program. How successful has it been? To date a total of sixty buses have been built. But they have created sixty new “green jobs.”  How? The same bus drivers who drove the old fossil fuel buses are now driving the green buses. Same drivers, new buses, counted as new green jobs. (www.climatedepot.com/20224/07/30 and Freebeacon.com)
  2. EV Charging Stations: Three years ago, the Biden administration signed a bill authorizing $7.5 Billion for the installation of 500,000 EV charging stations. What has been accomplished? A total of seven charging stations have been installed. (NYPost.com, 2024/06/05)
  3. You may ask, “Where has the money gone?” Straight into the pockets of bureaucrats (we always need more of them to “manage” new programs, consultants, community organizers, etc.

Someone, somewhere, should be brave enough to ask simple, logical questions and is willing to follow up on the promises made with your money. Or is that as silly as the claims of the environmental industry?

Liberalism’s Fourth Truning by John M. Owev IV

July 30, 2024 by Barry J. Klazura No Comments

The term, “liberalism” or the idea of being a “liberal” has changed since its first coining in Great Britain. There have been four distinct phases of “liberalism,” each one responding to the changing economic and political currents of the time.

The linked article by John M. Owen IV outlines each separate phase starting with what he calls “first-stage” or “classical” liberalism. This phase considered that the main threat to individual liberty came from the despotic states of the time. Our Founding Fathers were liberals in the “classic” sense. This phase had its strong and weak points, but it was during a time of dramatic political change and its attempts to avoid contradictions were not always successful.

The second stage was when classical liberalism moved into “welfare liberalism” during the time of the industrial revolution and was in direct conflict with the theories of Marx. The third state of liberalism developed during the 1970s and it is commonly known as “open liberalism”. It threw out welfare liberalism which it viewed as being burdened by over regulation and concentrated on the development of the individual. This has led to societies which show few if any boundaries which has in turn led to a breakdown of traditional rules and regulations as well as a restriction of personal freedom. It has alienated non-western societies as it constantly tests any and all boundaries.

Finally, we come to “pluralistic liberalism” which “must create space for individuals who want to bind themselves to norms, communities, and ways of life that require long-term commitment.” Does this sound a bit like “conservatism”? Perhaps liberalism is in the process of going full circle in recognizing the chief threat to individual freedom by substituting the mindless mob for the despotic state.

It is worth an evenings reading to settle in and fully digest the linked article.

The First American Putsch

July 27, 2024 by Barry J. Klazura 1 Comment

One American political party claims that it is fighting for democracy, to forestall a dictatorship by its’ opponent, Donald Trump.  How is it then, that the party which proclaims such a noble goal can force an incumbent President of its’ own party out of an election and provide a new savior while disregarding over fourteen-million of its own members who voted for the discarded incumbent? There are only two rationales for President Biden to give up his run for a second term. Either he was a) too mentally incompetent to fulfill his duties or b) it was determined that he could not win his second term. Let us look at each of these two causes and analyze what they say about that political party and what it should mean for the United States.

If Biden is mentally incompetent to fulfill his duties, when exactly did this become the clear case? Some pundits state that it was during the debate with Trump, when Biden fumbled and mumbled his responses to the easy questions thrown at both parties. Suddenly the legacy press was amazed and outraged at his showing and there was grave concern regarding his ability to function as expected of the President. Yet it was clear that from the very beginning of his Presidency that Biden appearances were carefully crafted to protect him from prying eyes and revealing questions. The lack of spontaneous questions from the press, the list of which reporters to be called in what order, the wandering around after the last question all clearly indicated that Biden was suffering from mental problems.

The sad part of this is that the leaders of the Democratic party knew that he had cognitive issues at the time they set him up to challenge Trump in the 2020 election. Cognitive issues do not get better, they are not reversable and yet the leaders of the party were willing to gamble with the safety and security of the nation as they felt he was their best hope to defeat Trump. Aside from the sheer immorality of gambling with the safety of all Americans, it goes to show the shallowness of the talent withing the Democratic party. The doyens of the party are all well into their seventies and eighties and have lived at the government feed trough for scores of years.

The game was played, the United States was the loser as lean and hungry authoritarians and dictators across the world saw that the leader of the free world was being steered by unknown hands that clearly had not interest in showing a strong face to the world. The result was the Russian invasion of the Ukraine along with the hundreds of thousands of dead and wounded, the boldness of the Tehran regime which has led to deaths and the closing of the Suez Canal which has impacted economies around the world, the disaster of Afghanistan, etc.

On the other hand, if Biden had to go because it was viewed that he could not beat Trump, then we have a clearly un-democratic cabal of Democratic politicians who have no regard for the Constitution or the votes of Democratic voters from the primaries. This is from the party that claims that it wants to save democracy! They must destroy it to save it. Imagine what they would do if they did not want to save democracy!

But there is a third option; that both of the options above were operable so that the leaders of the party knew and played upon Biden’s weakness, were willing to gamble with our lives and futures for a momentary political advantage and were fully willing and able to throw their own dupe overboard when the going got tough. Until we hear of another reason for the putsch, we are left with these sad options. Shame on those Democrat “leaders” who have so little regard for our nation and loyalty to one of their own.

Can We Stop the Gas Lighting Now, Please?

July 11, 2024 by Barry J. Klazura No Comments

The struggles within the Democratic Party are based on problems of their own making. Those lies which they sold to the American people, and which were supported by the legacy media are coming home to roost and we can only feel sorry for the American people who were the victims of those lies.

The very idea that one major political party would even think of putting into the highest office in the land an individual mentally impaired, whose mental condition can only deteriorate and use him as a puppet by unelected individuals who have a record of failure is amazing. But it goes to show those individuals arrogance based on what they have been doing for years.

The attached article helps to explain how this fiasco happened historically. How do we correct the system? Perhaps by reverting to the values and ideals that we discarded decades ago as pointed out in the article.

Let us hope it is not too late.

The Supreme Court Restrains Trump

July 9, 2024 by Barry J. Klazura No Comments

Contrary to the paranoia (and actions) of my friends on the Left, I don’t worry about President Trump (if he wins) using the power of his office to punish and seek revenge on his political opponents.  Why don’t I worry?  One big reason is that he did not seek retribution against Hillary Clinton who not only worked with Russians to create a false flag operation but she also committed numerous possible felonies while in office.  Additionally, I believe that he would rather win through being successful than by using the power of the State to go after those who for years have attempted (unsuccessfully) to bring him down.

With that in mind, the Left fails as usual to take a negative and turn it into a positive.  Instead, as usual, they take a positive and attempt to turn it into a negative in their quest for a cheap political gain.  Of course, I am referring to the recent Supreme Courts decision regarding Presidential immunity. The article linked below explains how the Court decision clearly lays out the limits of Presidential immunity.  This is extremely important as it has never been done before, but like President Washington being conscious that his every action created precedents for future Presidents, this decision provides a guiderail for future Presidents and others.  The decision stops Trump, Congress or local politicians from going after former Presidents for purely personal or political differences.

The nation now has a template which will prevent the lawfare which has become the tool of politicians of all stripes.

Always a Target

July 7, 2024 by Barry J. Klazura No Comments

Justice Clarence Thomas has been a target of the Left for many years. Aside from being Black and not a member of the Left’s “plantation,” he has stood like a rock in the court for his belief in Originalism in his interpretation of the Constitution. How to deal with a non-believer like him?

One way is to attack him personally in an attempt to discredit him in the eyes of the public. Fix the Court, who claims to be a “nonpartisan advocate for Non-ideological fixes” has released a report which accuses, without actually saying so, that Justice Thomas has received gifts and vacations worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from a wealthy businessman who has never appeared before the Supreme Court.

Examination of their reports shows an amazing lack of objectivity, false assumptions and outright false estimates of the cost of various activities between Justice Thomas the his long time friends, Harlan and Kathy Crow.

Between Fix the Court and ProPublica (another self-serving organization which claims to be, “an independent, non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism with moral force”), their reports appear to be poorly researched and overly partisan.

The attached article is a fine example of how one needs to not be carried away by sensational headlines and be skeptical of any organizations which claim such a high moral ground. The more grandiose the rhetoric, it seems, the lower their professional standards.

Israel Faces Total War

June 25, 2024 by Barry J. Klazura No Comments

Israel today faces what is beyond a doubt, the most dangerous time since its founding. It faces escalating wars on several fronts and its closest ally, the United States is “slow walking” munitions and support that is desperately needed by the IDF. Additionally, reports state that Iran who as sworn to destroy Israel is only weeks away from creating a nuclear weapon, while Israel is viewed as a “one-bomb” state (meaning that a single nuclear weapon that hits Israel can in effect destroy the state of Israel). Given the very real threats to the nation and unless the current U.S. administration changes course and expedites munitions deliveries to Israel (ala the 1973 Nixon airlift which all but saved Israel), Israel will be forced to examine all military options. Can that include a nuclear first strike?

The linked article outlines options that Israel must review as it faces a time of “total war.”  With the scanty militaries of Western Europe looking at the threat from Russia, the U.S. must move quickly to support Israel. Unfortunately, the current U.S. administration has shown by its actions in Ukraine that it does not understand that a policy of slow support only increases the cost of war.

An Analysis of the Trump Trial

June 7, 2024 by Barry J. Klazura No Comments

The recent conviction of former President Trump will be used during this election cycle to discredit him. Do you really want a convicted felon to be the President of the United States? Yet was the trial fair? To answer that question, ask if you would want to be a defendant in a trial and be treated in the same manner. If you say you do not know enough about the trial, please follow the link below for an analysis of the trial and the numerous grounds for a successful appeal.

Sadly, we have seen a major political polarization of our national governmental institutions under the Obama and Biden administrations. When President Obama promised to “fundamentally change” the United States, it should have been a warning to all of us. Unfortunately, few imagined that the fundamental change would be a political infection of the IRS, FBI, DOJ, and national intelligence agencies. We live in dangerous times, and we need to remember the wise words of President Reagan when he said: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
