The purpose of this blog is to educate, amuse, bemuse, challenge, irritate, berate, infuriate and charm.

Cigars:  I do not claim to be an expert on cigars; I cannot write about a particular cigar having a “wonderful blend of leather, coffee and pencil shavings”, or that a cigar is “young and pretentious”.  Instead I hope to provide the new and average cigar smoker some helpful hints to learn about or increase your joy of smoking a cigar, and to provide you with some options considering your mood, time to smoke, location, etc.  Enjoy!

Book Reviews:  For decades I have collected books and created a home library that has provided me with many hours of enjoyment, amusement and education.  I must admit that from time to time I become either excited or sated about a subject, but history is my most constant joy. And, nothing is better than to re-read a book that one last put down 10, 20 or more years ago and find a treasured lost fact or author.  Such joy! So now as I have delved some subjects to such a depth, I must admit that new books on certain aspects of history seldom offer either new facts or points of views. I now limit myself to one new book to re-reading one old friend. I find that it not only saves money (books are getting awfully expensive), but a great deal of disappointment.

Letters to the Editor:  I respect an individuals right to disagree with me, even though their logic and knowledge may be imperfect.  That being said, civility should breed civility and barring that, I reserve the right (as it is my blog) to unleash whatever degree of fury I feel at the time for any comments that are silly, stupid, oblivious to the facts, etc.
