Both of these cigars are ones that I go to for a serious smoke, with a nice cognac (my current favorite is Pierre Ferrand, 1st Cru) or scotch (a 12 year old Yellow Spot is nice). They are steady and reliable and each has their own strengths; they are well made, develop a firm whitish ash and produce a beautiful plume of smoke while not dropping any ash.
The Avo Classic is a 5 x 50 cigar with a Connecticut shade wrapper. Mild-Medium, it does not intrude on you yet provides a mellow taste (sorry, no descriptions of blue berry layers over oak, etc.) that does not make you work to enjoy. Surprising cool for a robusto you can enjoy it to the very end.
The Montecristo Rothchilde is a 5 x 52 cigar that is more on the medium side. I have found that they take a bit longer to cure in the humidor so I always give a new batch at least two weeks to adapt. It is a stronger smoke and may get a bit hot near the end but the wrapper is firm and holds up well.
The Montecristo can be about 50% more per cigar ($13 at the mail order houses) so they are not cigars to disregard once lit. For a 45-60 minute smoke, they provide a nice set of options for your enjoyment.
