In the West, we have a tendency to forget about some of the basic building blocks of our societies which have allowed us to create the richest and most stable societies in the history of the world. One of the most important aspects of Western law is that of the right to own property. When one owns property, one has a vested interest in the society; with land ownership, we take pride in what we have and work to make it better. It is not like that in much or the world and until the private right of ownership of land is secure, no society can progress. That is the difference between the West and Capitalism, and much of the world and Marxism. Enlightened self interest starts with stability and the rule of law.
