“The best laid schemes of mice and men can still go wrong” and so it is with the plans of the nations and their egos. Mankind has always tried to move forward but history has shown us that there is a natural progression to our progress. We cannot force an issue and all the fabricated rules and laws written to support a policy fail when faced with reality. As much as we use technology, it only works when it is developed reasonably and naturally. Any rush to implementation by mankind always runs up against reality.
So, it is with “green energy,” which is not turning out to be cheap or dependable. For all the hundreds of billions of Euros spend by Germany on solar power, the problem of heavy overcasts for much of the year will not go away; the same is true of wind power as we do not control the wind and thus lengthy periods of stillness defeat another green source. In order to counter act the limits of green energy, Europe has been forced in an extremely competitive market as it turns to coal in ever increasing amounts; the result? CO2 is increasing throughout Europe and a decrease in the standard of living due to high energy costs.
Could it be that Europe is moving too fast with technologies that are not ready for the huge rule assigned them? Might a slower path be better, one that puts the emphasis on practical research in conjunction coupled with a realistic policy by political leaders who are more interested in long term results instead of photo opts?
The attached link shows the Europe in particular is being forced into a corner by forces far beyond their control. The result is dirtier air, a slower economy, and less growth. Their over reliance at this point on wind and solar have created a sense of marching bravely backward into the fifteenth century.
