The “Gray Lady” (the New York Times) carries the banner, “All the News That’s Fit to Print”, but it might consider changing it to “All the Fiction We Can Think Of”. No greater example of the decline of the newspaper can be found in it’s ongoing initiative of the 1619 Project, an example of revisionist history at it’s poorest.

This “project” which has won a Pulitzer Prize, states that the very DNA of the United States is racist and that the Founding Fathers created the American Revolution not to create life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but rather to protect the institution of slavery. Apparently Jefferson, Monroe, Adams, all of the signers of the Declaration of Independence “conspired” to create a myth to cover up their real intentions. They wrote the Constitution, created and debated the Federalist Papers, as well as all of the other key documents but in secret back rooms they met to insure that slavery would endure (including in Colonies/States where it did not exist). This theory is not only simple, it is childish. Yet, today it is being discussed and taught in school rooms across the U.S. “Cancel the New York Times” is an interest discussion of the shallowness of 1619 and should be required reading at the Times. If it were, the newspaper might be able to right itself and return to the days of trying to present truth in reporting. https://claremontreviewofbooks.com/cancel-the-new-york-times-2/
